Questions, Questions, Questions!!
I love getting questions from you guys about sewing, styling, closet organization, photography, NYC thrifting…. the list really goes on and on. But in an attempt to stay sane, I’m going to be answering questions once or twice a week on here for everyone to see. Keep sending them my way, but please be patient for a response! I’ve also added a Mailbag to the sidebar.

What I Wore: Feeling Gothic
WhatIWore: When: December 30, 2008 What: Blouse: vintage, thifted Sweater vest: Giordano HK Belt: mall store Skirt: vintage, thrifted, hemmed Tights: Betsey Johnson Shoes: Payless Where: Office, maybe dinner Why: Well, these new tights were some of the loot I gathered while in Indiana over the holidays. The black lace instantly made me feel gothic, so I went with a high...

WhatIWore Recommends: So you got a sewing machine for Christmas (yay!) Confused on where to begin? Here’s what I suggest: Go to your local fabric store (Jo-Ann Fabrics, Hancock Fabrics, even Wal-Mart). Go straight for the wall of “Sew Easy” patterns, select something like pajama pants or an A line skirt. Check out the back of the pattern. Buy the suggest fabric (start with...

What I Wore's New Year's Resolutions
Figure out a way to shoot better indoor photos. The lighting’s not great, the background is static— I need to figure out a way to do better indoor daily photos.  The idea at the top of my list is to do a set similar to the one over at Liebemarlene Vintage— all white photo frames, wall and chairs. Could give me a good reason to hit up Home Depot and the Flea Market.  Lovely and...

WIW: DIY
WhatIWore: I did a little post-Christmas shopping and found this coat at Marshall’s. I wasn’t really looking for anything, but I loved the dramatic neckline, knee length style and the price of this coat. The one thing I didn’t love— the Calvin Klein logo buttons. It only took 30 minutes and $7.60 to really alter the look.  You can try the same thing with a coat you...

WhatIWore: Rule of Thumb Got nothing to wear?  Try this awesome tip (via my friend Christina, over heard on Oprah): Take all of your hangers and hang them backwards (as if you were looking at the hooks from the back side of your closet). Every time you wear an item, re-hang it the normal way.  Next time you think “I DON’t HAVE ANYTHING TO WEAR”, see how many hangers are...

What I Bought: Bargain Shopping
WhatIWore: Bargain Shopping Pictured 4 pairs Betsey Johnson tights: $14 Black Tank: $6.99 2 Skirts: $15.98 TOTAL: $37.97 And a note on the skirts, originally from Express, which are clear knock offs from the Prada 2008 Resort Collection.  Although I run the risk of looking last season (quelle horreur!!), I think these skirts have a vintage feel and are sort of an ode to Betty Draper. I...

Pepe Jeans: Andy Warhol Collection
All of the below images were found on the Pepe Jeans website with the Andy Warhol collection. I am loving the wacky styling. Very 60s and very modern at the same time. I’d love to pick and choose this or that item (like the top shift dress or bottom vest + dress).

Seasonings
It’s funny how determinedly we adhere to the dictums of the calendar when choosing our outerwear. Today it’s 60-plus but most are wearing the puffy down coats they wore last week, when the temperature was half that. In March it might be 35 with a brisk wind but by golly, we’re wearing that fetching new spring jacket. via noraleah
