What I Wore: A Fashion and Personal Style Blog

WhatIWore: We’re halfway through July and I’ll be the first to admit I’m really excited for fall clothes more than ever, especially after making three new fall hats yesterday (more on that soon!) I’m new to the Nordstrom Anniversay sale excitement, but today I looked into it and I can see why people get… excited. It’s sale prices on fall merchandise, which means it’s the perfect time to get some of the items on your autumn wishlist at a discount. The sale runs July 18 - August 3 when prices return to normal. As always, there’s free shipping and returns. Below I’ve play shopped for my favorite splurge worthy categories (boots, bags, coats and denim) and real shopped for a few things too. #treatyoself Click through to see all of my picks!

Boots: Brands like Frye and Rag and Bone are on sale, which are normally pretty pricey. Last year I bought the R+B Newbury bootie in black and wore them almost every day (below - a dark gray option). Definitely a solid investment. It’s also worth noting I bought a knockoff style from another brand and they weren’t nearly as comfortable as the real deal. I foresee myself wanting solid, chunky heeled boots instead of spikey stilettos once baby is born. Here are my favorites (I splurged on these):

Handbags:I like to invest in handbags and I like updating my collection once per season. I see myself going with a lot of warm tones this fall, so I picked out bags that have brown and cognac hues. The handbags below (from Frye, Rebecca Minkoff and Phillip Lim) are between $100-$300! I like:

WhatIWore: Two things: a) these pants do not photograph well and b) they’re so comfortable I couldn’t care less.  In a dream world, everything we wear, pregnant or not, would be super flattering to our bodies, but sometimes you have to cut your losses and just wear what makes ya feel good! I don’t want a pity party or anything, I freaking love these pants, but I also realize they make proportions look a little… wide, which is a feat in itself because I never thought anything would look bigger than my bump! Maybe because they are so low rise?

I think a longer jacket could have helped balance things out more and I’ll keep that in mind if I ever wear another pair of printed, loose knit pants. Or perhaps heels? A blousier shirt like shown on the site where I bought them? Live and learn, baby!

WhatIWore: Greetings from a chilly Indiana morning! Like a lot of the country, we woke up to cooler than normal summer temperatures and this expectant mama is not complaining! I’m excited in fact! Because I’ve got a little less to work with wardrobe wise, I appreciate the chance to layer and change things up a little bit. Here’s how I wore this dress the first time around
