Why:
Yesterday was one of those New York days I’ll always remember. Adam and I were invited as guests of Mr. de la Renta to sit as his table (unfortunately he couldn’t be there) for the New Yorkers for Children Fall Gala. This organization helps foster kids in the NYC area, and does an amazing job of picking up where the system leaves off when the kids are 18. This event was to raise money to send these kids to college, send back to school care packages and provide the means for kids who really want to learn.
I don’t have a whole lot of black tie worthy cocktail dresses in my closet, so I was especially thrilled when @OscarPRgirl had me over to the atelier to pick out a dress to borrow. Let me tell you, never in my wildest imagination did I think I’d be in Oscar’s office trying on cocktail dresses in ball gowns. Never! The entire day was a fairy tale and I felt so special to be invited to the event, surrounded by a table of charming people, and in a room full of New Yorkers supporting such a good cause. Adam was a dashing date wearing a borrowed tux and his own shirt, tie and shoes. We must have been quite a sight taking the subway (keeping it real!) to and from Cipriani’s on 42nd.
