When: March 27, 2012
What:
Where: Coffee Dates and a Day at the Studio
Why: This is a very special dress to me. Although it looks vintage, it was actually something I saw on the runway last September at the Milly show. I fell in love with it then, and when it hit stores, I was impressed with the workmanship, fabric and overall quality. It’s the kind of dress I’ll keep in my collection for a very long time, and hopefully, someday I’ll pass it on to a daughter or niece. The combination of a beautiful dress, seeing it on the runway in person, and meeting and interviewing the designer are what makes this dress special to me. There’s a full picture and a story behind it, even before the first time I put it on.
It also works perfectly into my Retro Week of 1960s styling! I’m wearing a vintage scarf as a belt - can you believe how perfectly the pattern matches with the print of the dress?! And I took a nod from the girls at Sterling, Cooper, Draper, Price and added a vintage broach to my collar (although now that I’m looking at it, it’s on the wrong side!)
I know I say this all of the time, but I think this is my favorite outfit I’ve ever worn!!
