Why: Today is my last official day of Retro Week - and I’ve had so much fun pulling these outfits together. I found that giving myself parameters actually inspired me to be MORE creative. I think we all know of the feeling of staring at a full closet and still feeling like there’s nothing to wear (story of my average morning). I’m going to toy around with the idea of themes for future weeks too. If you have suggestions, I’d love to hear them via twitter (@whatiwore) or on facebook.
This is a dress I found when I was in Salt Lake City for the Alt Summit last January. It’s just the kind of piece you spot from across the room and instantly want to take home with you. I think it was pretty reasonable too, under $25 and in really good condition. Vintage purists might be unhappy with me when I tell you that I cut off the original belt (it was low slung/high hip area) and opted instead to do a natural waist with my own yellow belt.
Oh… and these gloves. They’re crossing the border into costumey, but they’re just so dang cute and I love how they look like they were meant to go with the dress. They are from my aunt’s mother’s collection and I also have a pair with red dots. CUTE!! I might just pull them out again for Easter brunch!
Finally - the hair. On Wednesday I used velcro rollers and majorly teased it out and was on the fence, then you guys gave me such nice feedback that I decided to do it again today. I feel very Jackie Kennedy in this look!
