Why: Have you seen the show Upstairs Downstairs? It’s a BBC drama set in the late 1930s that narrates the lives of the family who lives in the house as well as their staff. A little like Downtown Abbey. So anyways, I bought this beautiful cream wool hat at Gorrin Bros in Denver over the weekend. The brim is wider in the front than the back and it’s so thick and luxurious! I always try to buy one wearable souvenir when I travel (like a sweater from Iceland, a handbag from Paris or a great leather back pack from Jackson Hole).
To achieve the 1930s styling inspired by Upstairs Downstairs, I started with the hat and a black coat with a wide lapel. I went with a cream sweater (which actually has more of a sweet, 1950s feeling), and added a longer length pencil skirt.
