Why: I’m trying something a little different today and I really like how it all came together. It’s kind of a winding path on how I came to this, but essentially, it started with parting my hair in the center (even though you can’t see it in this pics). For some reason, I feel a lot cooler with a center part. Less lady like and girlie and more edgy? I don’t know. But my center part had me playing around with different ideas and one of them was to layer something over this soft, long maxi dress. I also wore this because I’ll be sitting in a 3 hour class this afternoon and it’s been a long while since I’ve had to sit still for that long, so comfort is key.
I wanted a shorter jacket to emphasize my waistline, hence the cropped denim jacket. Um, way too cold out for this kind of outerwear. Yes, it’s snowing. Fail on me there. But! But! I did add on layers of warmth with my self made crochet hat, scarf and vintage gloves. It really wasn’t all that terrible for the 3 minutes I was outside snapping photos this morning.
Finally, I needed some flat shoes to make this maxi dress skim the ground and I already had on knee socks, so instead of slip on ballet flats (which I don’t really like with socks), I laced up my old Converse.
So it’s not a typical outfit you’d see me wear, but I really like how it feels. It’s good to get out of the box once and a while.
