When: April 14, 2013
Black Beetle Dress: Self Made
Black Wedges: J.Crew
Mint Patent Leather Belt: J.Crew
Shades: MNG for MANGO via JCP*
Where: Antique Shopping, Entertaining family at home
Why: Check out my new little beetle bug dress! I started it on Thursday afternoon and quickly finished it up on Friday. I slightly modified the original pattern (Simplicity 2180), using my own skirt (a simple gathered dirndl) and omitting a back tie and waistband elastic. I squeezed this one out of 2 yards worth of fabric (it called for 3.5!) I love the lower back cut out too!
From a distance, there’s a polka dot effect, but when you get close you can see the little bugs, which I love. I tend to find the cutest designs in the novelty or juvenile sections (this is from Fabric.com!)
Accessory wise, I kept it simple, just adding a mint belt.
In other news, the weather here has been beautiful lately and Bloomington is most definitely living up to it’s name! We took these photos on campus (thanks for the tip, Taylor!)
