When: April 25, 2013
Straw Hat: Self Made
Where: Studio and on site Master Gardening Class
Why: Thursdays always feel a little like Friday to me for a couple of reasons. I usually work from home or do projects on Friday, and don’t get into the studio and I also have my gardening class on Thursdays. Today we’ll be on a field trip of shorts, so I wanted to be comfortable and practical outdoors.
I’m also wearing another hat I recently made (see the first straw one here), which is kind of like a cloche/ball cap hybrid. I’m really proud of how this one came out! I used a vintage block I found on etsy for the crown and separately attached the little cap-like brim that I free formed. Eeeee! I love it!!! Speaking of brims, I’m getting a new custom brim block in the mail today and am really excited to make my next hat. I’m trying to alternate between sewing, hat making and projects around the house, but when you’re inspired, you’ve just gotta keep rolling! I have so much straw and fabric that I kind of want to make it my goal to make a new dress and hat each week or every other week. I’m also looking forward to a sewing class I’m doing with one of my friend’s daughters this summer. Do you remember your first sewing project?
