Earlier this week, I tweeted about wanting to do some sewing and this is the dress I made! I recently helped my aunt go through some of her mom’s amazing clothing from the 60s and 70s and I was inspired by the contrasting bodices and skirts of the dresses. For the top of this dress, I used a pretty white embroidered cotton and then a printed yellow cotton for the skirt. You may recognize the pattern, it’s the Simplicity 2444 that I used for this dress as well.
With 1960s inspirations in mind, I also went with a retro vibe in styling this ensemble. The white shades, straw bag and belt all make me feel like a chic gal on summer vacation!!! Just give me a pair of white gloves and a scarf and I’m ready to time travel.
