When: July 4, 2013
Linen Button Down: J.Crew Factory
Playsuit Top: Self Made and Designed
Playsuit Bottoms: Self Made, Papercut Patterns ‘Coppélia’
Where: At the Lake
Why: Ta da! Here’s my little Fourth of July weekend playsuit that I made just in time for the holiday. I bought the pattern for the retro style shorts after seeing them on Lauren’s blog and once I made them, I thought they’d look cute with a matching crop top. This is one of the first tailored pieces I’ve designed and drafted myself and although I see a few things that could be a little better, I’m pretty damn happy with how it came out! It makes me so much more confident about doing more design and pattern making on my own instead of relying on commercially available patterns.
I loved having this little play suit to wear in addition to my one piece maillots. It was a nice amount of coverage for lounging around reading and sun bathing (I didn’t get in the water in it) without being a full on bikini. The shorts also looked great with my other suits!
I loved making both of these pieces so much, I’m thinking about doing them in a really pretty pale yellow plaid later this week! At least the shorts (which were super easy and took under 2 hours to cut out and stitch!)
What do you think?
