When: August 26, 2013
Why: It may have been 8 years since my last first day of school, but this time of year still marks a new beginning for me. I LOVE the first day of school - from Kindergarden to my senior year of college, I always looked forward to a fresh beginning and a chance to do better. It probably won’t surprise you that I was the kind of student that always wanted an A++ and I loved rising to go above and beyond my teacher’s expectations. Sewing and design classes = yes. Macro Economics = not so much.
Yesterday Adam and I spent the entire afternoon deep cleaning out house. We’re renovating our upstairs bath and you have no idea how much joy I got out of striping the original medicine cabinet down to the original wood. Peeling away those layers and prepping it to start fresh translates so well to this time of year. Every September feels like a new beginning.
As for my outfit - I’m extending the life of this summer dress by layering a polka dot chambray on top, giving it a whole new life. This also works in colder weather with maxi dresses (like here and here).
