1. Where are you based? I live in beautiful Bloomington, Indiana! Prior to my move in October 2010, I lived in the Fort Greene and Park Slope neighborhoods in Brooklyn, NY.

2. Who takes your photos?
The majority of my photos since August 2009 have been taken by my husband Adam. I also take my own Daily Outfit photos on occasion as well as any still lifes. Before August, I took most of the photos using a timer.

3. What camera and photo editing software do you use?
We shoot most photos with a Canon 7D and a Canon 50mm lens or a Canon G12.  I usually edit my photos in iPhoto or Photoshop.

4. How long have you been taking Daily Outfit photos?
My first shot was on May 5, 2007! I started What I Wore in March 2008.

5. I’m coming to NYC! Where should I shop?
It’s been a year and a half since I lived in NYC, I recommend checking out the neighborhood of Williamsburg in Brooklyn. You’ll find cute cafes, loads of hipsters (gawk at the locals!) and Mecca (Beacon’s Closet). Make sure to do a little Google mapping before you set out to plan out the shops you want to hit.

…and what should I pack?
Whenever I travel I always a) check the weather leading up to the trip and b) bring walking shoes, layers and an umbrella. That’s all the advice I’ve got on this one

 6. I started my own blog. Any tips?

Kudos! Blogging is an awesome outlet for expressing yourself.  Please check out my pro-tips that cover most of the getting started questions you might have.

7. Is this your full time job?
Yes! I worked as a fashion designer for four years between 2005 and 2009. I found myself spending more time thinking about and working on What I Wore and decided to passionately pursue it.  I made a plan to monetize my site and got all businessy with it. I’ve realized its half creative and half business, but I still love it!

8. What did you study in school?
I graduated from Indiana University - Bloomington with a Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel Merchandising, minor in Marketing and an Associate’s Degree in Costume Construction Technology.

9. How tall are you?
I’m 5’9”!

10. Is there a way to check out all of your outfits in one place? I don’t want to click the “back” button over and over.
I’m working on a way to make browsing many outfits at once easier.  For now I’d suggest click on Daily Outfit or the Gallery

11. What should I wear with ____________?
Shoot me an e-mail with a photo of yourself, the item you need help with and what you’re thinking for the outfit. I’ll do my best to get back to you as quickly as possible, but please give me some flex time. Please keep in mind I can’t provide specific shopping links.

12 I love fashion and want to be in the fashion industry, how did you get started?
This answer is a long one, so let me direct you to a post I wrote answering this a couple of years ago.

13. How do you stay fit?
I don’t really like “working out”, but love to hike, ride bikes and recently took up tennis.  Anything that’s active and healthy but doesn’t feel like punishment.

14. I want to start sewing, can you help?
Yes! Read this!

FULL DISCLOSURE POLICY:

I style all of the outfits you see on What I Wore and sometimes include clothes/accessories that were provided to me as gifts from the companies I love. As of 2012, I’ve stopped accepting gfits, but I’ll still denote past complimentary items using “c/o” in front of the item.  This is a professional blog, and I accept sponsorships and advertisements, but I’ll always let you know when those come into play.

At the end of the day, I only work with the companies and brands I love, I wear what I want and I’ll always be completely transparent about those relationships.
