WhatIWore: We’ve got another good month of Summer still left on the calendar, but all I can think about is Fall. In the past week or so I’ve felt uninspired with my bright summer threads, that I opted to switch things over to my autumn wardrobe instead. I’m still working with a lot of transitional pieces that I can wear sans layers and with bare legs while the heat keeps up, but between you and me, I’m really for sunny and 60 outside.
Above: I have a massive collection of vintage and new scarves and previously had them divided by color, which didn’t make sense for how much I wear them (not often enough). They have a new home in a giant canvas bin that sits atop my cubbies.

I don’t have a proper dresser, so I’ve folded my jeans, shorts and sweaters and put them into the cubby boxes along with shoes and clear bins.

Clear plastic bins are a great way to store items you wear frequently and want to see easily. I store belts, jewelry and bangles this way.

I had a collection of homemade mismatched hat boxes and decided to replace them with brown paper versions, with 3” lettering of the inner contents. There’s VINTAGE, FEDORA, CLOCHE and ALPINE. Then there’s the wig forms. I’ve been looking for vintage versions, but when I saw these creepy heads for $5 a pop at the craft store, I decided to get three. Three creepy styrofoam heads in the guest bedroom.

WhatIWore: Lately I’ve realized that I’ve wanted to be a stylist all along. Maybe not the editorial variety (or maybe so!), but at least the kind of person that can consult with other woman and find the best possible combinations of what they have in their closets. Today I was putting together some looks and just liked how the rack looked so took a few snaps. I love playing with my clothes.

WhatIWore: I’ve really been embracing tights for the past three years. By spending a little extra money on (up to $30/pair) quality brands (no snags) I’ve built up a collection of over 25 pair.
I organize them by color and tie them onto hangers to easily see them in my closet. When I pick out an outfit I’ll style it all the way to the hosiery and then retie them to the hanger of the new look.
Its also a good way to see what you already have (and have clean!!)
Some brands I have worn and really liked include:
- ModCloth
- Look from London
- HUE (available at Macy’s and carried by Anthropologie)
- We Love Colors (every shade under the sun)
- Target
