What I Wore: School Girl

WhatIWore:
When:
November 24, 2009
What:
Sweater: vintage, thrifted
Blouse: vintage, thrifed
Skirt: vintage, thrifted
Socks: Target
Boots: Frye via Need Supply
Where:
Lunch in the city
Why:
Well, I guess I was going for English school girl circa 1962 tries (and fails?) to be sexy. Or something like that. I love the sweater-blouse-boots but the skirt is not to be hung back in my closet. Adam said “its the female equivalent to a short sleeved button up on a man.” Now I have nightmares visions of Dwight Shrute in my head. Next time I’ll opt to rock some dark skinny jeans instead. Lesson learned!
What I Wore: Jeans and a Sweatshirt

WhatIWore:
When:
November 21, 2009
What:
Peacoat: Target
Hoodie: J. Crew
Jeans: Buffalo (free from old job)
Boots: Frye (from Need Supply)
Where:
Day about Brooklyn with Adam
Why:
Ok, you’re probably wondering when I’m going to get back to the skirts and tights and all that jazz, but this is another weekend photo, and although I do get sassied up for going out at night, I rarely take photos. But I did manage to snap my run-around-shopping-for-a-sofa look here. Nothing much to say. Comfy cozy.
What I Wore: Total Slacker

WhatIWore:
When:
November 15, 2009
What:
Scarf: thrifted, vintage
Tee: Hanes 3 pack!
Trench: Zara
Jeans: Mavi
Boots: Frye, from Need Supply
Where:
Brunch with Adam on a rainy Sunday morning
Why:
This is the kind of event/day I usually do NOT take photos because I’m wearing no makeup, my hair is dirty, and I am an all around bum. But… I got ready and felt like a snap or two would be ok and this is how I looked. I think the trench is a must have for looking instantly chic (same goes for big shades!)
So another officially casual day here. Anyone else have tips on how they dress up comfort clothes?
What I Wore: Day In, Day Out

WhatIWore:
When:
November 18, 2009
What:
Lanz Velvet Bolero: on loan from Market Publique
Scarf: Banana Republic
Blouse: thrifted, vintage Dior
Mint cords: J. Crew
Flats: Target
Charm Bracelet: my mom’s
Where:
Lunch with Rich, errands
Why:
I knew I wanted to wear these new cords yesterday, but I know they can look a little kindergarten if you don’t style them up right - so I opted for a bit more of a fancy jacket and did this black velvet bolero. The purple top makes the outfit pop. I love this ensemble, because its something almost ANYONE can wear - just pick the colors you like and do your own version. Would look great going on errands like I did, or even for a casual lunch or coffee date. I can see wearing this to dinner and looking sharp as well. Just make sure you wear a structured piece that pulls it all together!
What I Wore: Old Lace

WhatIWore:
When:

What:
Blouse: ModCloth
Necklace: Thrifted
Skirt: Target
Tights: Marshall’s
Shoes: Thrifted
Bag: Thrifted
Where:
On a little adventure to lift my spirits
Why:
Yesterday I was on a mission to feel a little better and get out of the house and all dressed up… so that I did. I went set off to go to Anthropologie and buy some pretty pajama pants (2 pair!) and also got a great skirt in the sale section and a pine scented candle. My favorite restaurant, Le Gamin had its mobile truck parked across the street (!!!!!) and this was the thing that really made my day. I got a nutella crepe and cafe au lait and ate it at Union Square. Then I picked up a Jack Canfield book (he’s the best) and a wedding planning book at Barnes and Noble and finished up with some basics at J.Crew. It was just what I needed to change my head. And I got so many compliments on my outfit! It made me feel so good about myself! People should compliment one another more! I have to give a nod to CaliVintage - I think this is totally something she would wear! I’m inspired! The blouse, although new, has SUCH a vintage appeal. I just love it! This November weather is the tops.
What I Wore: Extra! Extra!

WhatIWore:
When:
November 13, 2009
What:
Blouse: vintage, flea market
Sweater: sale, Anthropologie
Legging/Jeans: compliments of Mavi
Shoes: thrifted
Where:
To lunch with Christine
Why:
The wind sort of ruined it, but I had my hair backcombed and in a pony/headband along with some catty eyes and was going for a black and white 60s look. I started with the jeans, and looked at my black tops and came up with this. I should also mention these aren’t really jeans, and aren’t really leggings- they’re sort of a mix. They are super light weight stretch twill but very tight. I like them a lot! In fact, I’ve been wearing them non stop since they arrived. Would you wear legging/jeans? Would you mix these patterns?
