Why:
A lot of my influence this season comes from the career woman of the 1970s, a la Faye Dunaway in Network. I think the Marc by Marc Jacobs fall 2011 collection really captured that spirit. Some of the key elements that I look to for a seventies look are: center parted straight hair, high waisted, longer length skirts, funky prints, and gold accessories.
When I saw this skirt (and it’s matching top) at a local vintage store, the Marc by Marc show was the first thing I thought of… and I’m still debating on wearing them together (although I think with high boots and a camel hair coat it could be quite chic). For now, I like the way the navy coordinates but still contrasts against the skirt.
In other news, I think I look exactly like my mom.
