This Target skirt just might be one of the prettiest skirts ever. While I am so in love with it, I have to admit I was a little intimidated by the thought of turning it into nail art. I decided to interpret this outfit a little more loosely than the other outfit-inspired nail art that I’ve done, and I couldn’t be happier with the results (thank goodness my plan worked!).
My first thought for the nail art was to invert the design elements in the skirt. The sponged gradient background was inspired by the colors of the flowers, and I used: Nicole by OPI - Alex By the Books (mint green), Illamasqua - Jo’Mina (purple), Illamasqua - Cameo (blue), and Nicole by OPI - Naturally (pink). Next, I freehanded a symmetrical floral pattern over the top in black using my favorite nail art brush. Of course, you can’t forget to finish with topcoat for seal and shine!
There are so many ways to customize this design. Changing the colors of the gradient and the floral will create looks capable of fitting in anywhere. You could even make it more office appropriate by doing a nude to light pink gradient and painting the floral in white!

WhatIWore: I’m a huge fan of Sarah from Chalkboard Nails and we’ve recently partnered up to take inspiration from past What I Wore looks and make them into amazing manicures. When Sarah sent these photos over my jaw dropped! I love her work and can’t wait to show you more inspired nail art in our four part collaboration!

WhatIWore: Quick post this morning with my latest manicure! Mint is one of my favorite colors this spring, and one of my favorite nail lacquer shades is Mint Candy Apple from Essie. To splash things up a bit, I added a small black dot (using the end of a bobby pin for the right size) on my thumb and ring finger. I love the end result!
