WhatIWore: Fun fact! Did you know I used to design NCAA licensed clothing? I did! I love college apparel and I really love options that are a step beyond your basic screen printed tee (although I still wear my 10 year old ratty red INDIANA UNIVERSITY shirt for good luck sometimes for IUBB games).
It’s Homecoming this week at IU, so I’ve been thinking a lot about what to wear to a tailgate with both logo items and other pieces that are in school colors but can be worn later in a non school spirit way.
Above: I like the idea of pairing a sporty tee shirt and retro sneakers with a classic blazer and skinny jeans. Because our school colors are cream and crimson, I love wearing NARS Red Lizard on game days. A neutral outfit benefits from spirited accessories, like a scarf or tote in team colors. 1/2/3/4/5/6

WhatIWore: The concept of “glamping” has me mesmerized. Summer means enjoying yourself outside and camping in luxury seems like the perfect way to do it. When you’re in the great outdoors, there is no reason why you shouldn’t look good while also being practical. A great carry-all bag and sturdy, yet classic, hunting boots are a must-have and are also perfect for hiking. This blanket in pink is one of my absolute favorites and perfect for cold nights. And you can’t go wrong with some plaid full of summer colors. So go out and enjoy the outdoors, but don’t forget your bug spray!
WhatIWore: I recently received an e-mail from Lauren (a fellow IU alumni and Random House author!) regarding what to wear to a book fair. Lauren’s first novel, Meant To Be, is coming out this fall. Here’s what she wrote:
I saw a post you did today where a reader asked for help with packing for a trip, and I was hoping maybe you’d be interested in doing something with me. My first YA novel comes out in November (a cute, fun, swoony YA rom com), and in June I’m going to be heading to Book Expo America in New York to do some panels, meet-and-greets, and a reading. I’m a little torn on what to wear, as I don’t want to be fully casual, but I also don’t want to be over dressed. It’s a book for teens, and at least one of my events is going to be full of teens, so I want to look cute and fun! Also, I need to be wearing comfy shoes (ie, flats) since I’ll be wandering around the Javits Center and NYC all day, and I need layers for when it’s cold inside.
If I’m wearing skirts, I tend to go more for a pencil skirt. I love patterns and bold colors, and as a writer, I’m always carrying a massive bag because I can’t go anywhere without my notebook, a book to read, and possibly my MacBook Air!
