WhatIWore: When I think of tartan, Clueless immediately comes to mind. Who can forget the matching yellow tartan blazer, vest and pleated skirt that Cher so confidentially rocked while strolling through the halls of Beverly Hills High? While I’m all for making a statement, I prefer to go the more traditional route with vivid stripes of green, red and navy. So the next time you’re “rolling with the hommies,” or wearing your “most capable looking” white collarless shirt from Fred Segal to the DMV, remember that tartan isn’t just for 90s cult classics. Not wear tartan over the holidays? As if!

With the holidays approaching almost as quickly as the temperature drops, I find myself most excited to break out my favorite fair isle sweaters. Whether you’re layering to keep from the cold or cozying up with some kind of sugary peppermint goodness form Starbucks, a warm winter sweater fits every occasion. I prefer sweaters with a sense of humor and would opt for the fun neons and electric blues that Madewell is featuring this winter, but for those with more traditional taste, a simple black and cream fair isle can add a touch of class and a whole lot o’ warmth to any outfit.

WhatIWore: I love a printed dress, skirt or pair of shorts, but I’ve yet to jump into the world of printed pants. I love these options! Above 1/2/3/4
Pair with a neutral top, but don’t be confined to the colors in the print with your accessories. Doesn’t this bright fuchsia handbag, nail lacquer and lipstick look amazing against the blue and green trousers? Below 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8
