WhatIWore: Who wasn’t smitten with the most Shop Ruche* lookbook? I was especially taken with a black and white number shown with a vintage umbrella… so I made my own! Here’s how:

Supplies:
- Black Umbrella
- Ruler + Tailor’s Chalk
- White Paint (I used Block Ink)
- Paintbrush
Start by measuring and marking where you’d like your stripes. I opted for 1” stripes, but any combination of thin + thick stripes would look great.

Using a foam brush, apply paint. I found this block ink in the screen printing section of my local craft store. Any fabric paint will probably work!

I opted to free hand between the marked points. I did buy painters tape, but it didn’t adhere well enough to do the job right.

I love the final look! Next time it pours, you’ll see me singing in the rain!

Coffee Run
Why:
Call me crazy, but I set my intention to get up and get ready today, even with rainy skies and no specific agenda. So yea, I get dressed up to get coffee or take a walk sometimes, but having my hair done (back comb! Aqua Net!) and some makeup makes my day. I wore this exact outfit last fall and liked it enough to repeat.
Also, I really enjoy rainy spring days… at least the ones that get those trees to sprout leaves and the flowers to bloom. Plus NYC has a really amazing forecast (79 on Saturday?! What!?) so its fair enough to have a rainy day to get some work done. I love Spring in Brooklyn!!
