WhatIWore:

When:

March 11, 2009

What:

T-neck: Zara
Scarf: vintage, thrifted
Skirt: vintage, thrifted
Tights: ??
Boots: gifted, Nine West

Where:

Work, meetings

Why:

I just want to get the most out of some of my winter pieces. I’m already over the heavy plaid skirts, but this bright violet feels right as we approach the last week of winter. And I’ve felt chilly lately too, so a t-neck is just right. This is the third time I’ve put together this same outfit, but something about it just works for me. Its not in my all time favorites category, but it is great for a “nothing to wear” moment. Now that I’m looking at this, with the beret, I look kind beanik/young commie circa 1964.

When:

February 4, 2009

What:

Hat: Homemade by Me
Thermal: Sleepover souvenir (yes, I’ll admit, its a little highschool, but if he never calls back, I consider it a parting gift)
Sweater: Zara
Jeans: Arden B (free and rehemmed)
Boots: Banana
Scarf: HK? Mystery??

Where:

Work!!

Why:

BECAUSE ITS COLD. Everyone asks if I ever wear tee shirts and jeans. Yes. Today is a perfect example. I’m not always “on”. I’m far from it. Sometimes you should see what I wear to the corner deli on a Sunday morning. I mean, you’d probably laugh it can be so bad. Whatever! I’m not perfect and I’m not really defending myself. Just spreading the word— you can run a fashion blog and not be a fashion plate 24.7.

What:

Sweater: Alpaca Peruvian Sweater, gift from J
Blouse: Penguin
Belt: Lucky Brand (free)
Skirt: free from work
Tights: We Love Colors
Boots: Banana

Where:

Office

Why:

On Friday, one of my very best friends stopped by NYC after a 2 week trip to Peru.  He was super thoughtful and brought me back this beautiful alpaca sweater. This is the second time I’ve worn it since then! I love it. The rich earthtones are keeping me happy and warm. I’m wearing it with a plaid skirt (totally clashing! mwahahah!) in the same color story. I wanted the sweater to be the highlight so I went monotone on the tights and boots. I also have a shot of my coat and scarf in there. Its a vintage piece that had a fur collar (I took that off).

Wearing a new outfit always makes me happy. Even happier that I will always think of my friend each time I wear the sweater. Happy Monday.

WhatIWore:Rule of Thumb

Q: Do black and navy go together?

A: My rule of thumb is that black and navy can go together. Make your look intentional— no navy socks under black trousers with black shoes. I’d say this is something only to try if you’re really comfortable with your style. If you work in an corporate environment, you’re better to let this combo slide.

What:

Blouse: Penguin
Cardi: Zara
Belt: Goodwill
Skirt: River Island??
Tights: Macy’s
Shoes: E-bay

Where:

Work, Mets Game

Why:

I’m in love with purple lately. I think its one of the best colors to add to your closet this fall.  This outfit was really inspired by the changing of seasons and the crisp autumn weather (I love it!). Those worrisome days of Indian Summers are really coming to a close (even tho I love them, its so hard to get dressed).  I think the dark brown of this look really grounds it, and wearing tone on tone tights and skirt keep its super short length a little less obvious.

Today I’m also feeling the back to school vibe by donning my sorority pin and mom’s high school class ring.
