WhatIWore: Inspired by my Retro Sneaker board, I decided to give the look a try for myself! One key element that made it work for me: Keep it sporty overall. I tried a few different everyday blouses and jackets but they looked disconnected. It’s also key to go with a fitted pant instead of something baggy, like sweats. I like a ponte knit pant which is much thicker knit than a workout legging and a little more dressed up. Aim to balance proportions with a longer top or puffy coat!
WhatIWore: Each day that the temperatures hover in the single digits and wind chills plummet way below zero, I put a lot more focus on my warmth and safety than putting together a new outfit post. I’ve never had frostbite, but I read about it in a Jon Krakauer book and I furthermore, I hate being that cold. Currently I’m sitting on my couch wearing cords and a flannel with a knitted beanie. It’s just not that cute and sorry I’m not sorry - I just don’t care! To those of you willing to bare your ankles and mid-drifts this week, kudos to you (I mean it!)
In the meantime, I’m digging around through my archives for ideas on what DOES work when it’s freezing. Over and over again I come to COLOR. It’s easy to hide out in your black parka but just a touch of something bright works wonders for me.
