Found it! Navy Peacoat

WhatIWore:Shopping
Back in August, I posted about Love Story inspired fashion and added a navy peacoat to my fall wish list. Originally, I wanted an actual military peacoat, but found they are really made more for function than flattery. Today, I found THIS amazing shortened navy peacoat at Target. Bonus- found out it was on sale (at the register) for $35. Will be a great piece for autumn layering.

WhatIWore: Flash Back Edition
I can say, without a doubt, that I have always been interested in fashion. Like in the above picture, taken in December of 1989 (I was 6 and blond!). My mom definitely liked to dress me up like a “little lady” so I’m sure I started with the red tights (and socks). Then I think I put on every article of red clothing I owned. I was also obsessed with having my picture taken, so I have a lot more flashbacks to scan in. But this seemed right to post now, given my recent craziness with colored tights.

Why:
First off, the more I wear heels, the harder it is for me to go back to flats. I feel like a sky scraper today! Also excited to wear a shirt fresh from the cleaners, paired with something *new* from my closet. This is a skirt I wore a lot last year as a knee length number, but as you can see, I’ve hemmed it up quite a bit. I love short skirts and tights together! Instead of being all black and sort of boring, the tights I’m wearing are a dark charcoal and ribbed. Actually, they’re leggings, which are my new faves. The shoes are my new classic and at the rate I’ve been wearing them, they’ll be perfectly broken in (…soon I hope).
I’m wearing my mom’s charm bracelet from when she was my age. My dad’s college is on there, her high school banner, an artist palette, an ancient Disney pin, a globe… I’ve added a thimble and a DG charm. Its such a great piece.

Why:
Finally there’s a chill in the air and a need for a light cardigan on the way to work. Everything morphs from my original intentions in the morning. I started wearing this blouse with its matching necktie, then moved it to the waist and finally dropped it altogether in favor of a leather belt to match my shoes. And went through 3 pairs of jeans before deciding these would work. Those new shoes from yesterday really need to get broken in before I try to wear them for an entire day again. I’m thinking flats to the train, switch to the fancy shoes for the office and back again to something more comfortable for my 1/2 mile trek back to my apartment. I’m on the lookout for some more tights, which are perfect for chilly mornings and getting the most out of your late summer dresses.

Just wanted to be wearing something comfy and easy so I could ride around town on this beautiful loaner bike. You can technically dress like a ten year old boy and get away with it. :)
